Door apart/wing mirror
Discussion
Need to move the N/S wing mirror on its mount, as even if I adjust it all the way in I still can’t see anything, it was fine before the door was replaced, need to sort this out as will need it on Monday for Snetterton.
Also while I’m there N/S window has stopped working so thought I might give the connections a clean, can this be done with the motor in place?
Has anyone done this before?

This is quite an hard job to do. I know this as some kind person broke my mirror clean off in Tesco some two months ago.
The way I did it was to take the speaker out from the door then undo the three 10mm dia nuts that hold the leather in my case door surround on.(You need to feel around the door cavity a little for the third nut as it is situated quite far up the door.)
Once you have managed to undo these bolts take the door panel off which should leave you with the carpet trim. To take this off look for the self tapping screws in the carpet and undo I think there are about 8 screws in total.
Once you have done all of this you then need to slacken the star nut that is situated under the door mirror this is very hard to get at but if you manage to undo it turn the mirror to the correct angle and retighten. Check all is ok then put all the items back.
I did this myself and it is not easy but is possible any further questions please ask me.

Not all Griff mirrors are attached via a star nut inside the door which can be undone. The nut in mine is embedded in the fibreglass and as such nothing can be, or needs to be, done from inside the door.
You can save yourself some hassle by doing what you need to do from the outside. The mirror is held onto the door via a boss which screws into the embedded (or star) nut in the door. THe main body of the mirror fits onto the boss via a collar, which is secured with a small allen bolt.
You can access this collar by levering up the black plastic cover on the mirror base. You can then undo the allen nut with a cut down allen key, reposition slightly, then tighten up again. I am afraid I can't remember the size of allen key you'll need - sorry. Access is very tight as you are working in the round recess in the door outer.
Alternatively take the car back to the bodyshop and get them to do it?
