I'm looking to buy a Griffith 4.3, in either Silver (no red leather though) or alternively a dark blue/black one. Price - somewhere between 12k - 14k. If you know where there's a good one going, please could you let me know. Also, does anyone have any tips/things to look out for when buying a Griff.

Thanks,

Dan.

Best Advice, what ever car you find, or whatever you think of it.

Is, Pay a specialist to look it over for you, probably won't cost any more that a a couple of hundred, depending where it is.

Could save you a fortune/diasater.

Thames Valley Race tech I think would do this for you, if you're in thesouth. They've seen a couple of real horror stories with customers who have bought cars privately at this sort of price.

There's one in the classis here on this site. It's the one in Sawtry. Thought of viewing this myself as it's only 15 miles away, just not in a position to at the moment. Seems an honest car talking to the guy from Offord Motor Co. who service it. Apparently they've known it quite a while before the present owner acquired it. He, incidentally, hasn't had the car that long. Did have some email correspondence with him – seems quite genuine. Has the updated wheels etc, but did have a new speedo at 16,000 – now shows 24 so 40ish in total.
Please post if you view as I may have missed out on a bargain!

Try Top Marques this week.

There's a dark blue 4.3 Griff for sale in Brighton for 13k

It has got 77k on the clock though.

Thanks for all the info. Going to check out the blue 4.3 in Sawtry later today, but may have to leave the one in Brighton until next weekend. I've bought the Steve Heath book for my 'S', and I was contemplating buying the Griffith/Chimaera one before buying a Griff. Has anyone bought the book, and does it have any useful buying info like the 'S' book?

Thanks,

Dan.

New to this but hope it helps.
Acorrding to factory mechs best engine then again they were probably being nice as my bonnet was up !!! 4.3 great cars but exhaust manifolds develop stress cracks from engine movement, common prob with TVRs, new ones very expensive, also watch the water temp as the sendor unit on the water tank can play up if covered in sedement. Car won't overheat as the engine fuel system has a sensor that cuts out when very hot leaving you stranded until it cools and mechanic's stumped. Sorted it with aid of Rover haynes manual, new switch and fitted overide button so I could turn fans on/off if desired, as for manifolds, welded them but not long term solution.
Good luck

I have a 4.3 with a broken exhaust manifold. Am currently waiting for a new one from TVR, already a month - have been told another fortnight. Fortunately my dealer is paying for it

An update on the Exhaust manifold front. If you have an old Griff (4.3) make sure you don't crack them. I've been waiting 7 weeks for a new one from TVR and have just been told, it will be another month! One did arrive last week but it was the wrong fit.

Mine is completely cracked thru and unrepairable, so I'm busy kicking my heels at the moment and having to drive my girlfriends 1.4 Golf. Sigh.....
