More of the cutting out problem.

My Griffith 500 also cuts out but very intermittently. After driving fairly briskly then driving slowly through a town the engine just cuts out. When you roll to a halt it starts first time and may not do it again that day. When it cuts out there is sometimes a whining noise. Any ideas. It's starting to get me narked.

This won't help you much, but I borrowed a Cerbera once, and that did exactly the same thing.
Sorry I couldn't enlighten you - I too would be interested to know why.

A pal's cerb suffered a dodgy tank of fuel once abroad - it misbehaved terribly until the tank was refilled. Then was fine.
Anyway - where's this Griffs whining noise? If it's behind you it's the fuel pump.
This won't help either but I had a Probe once (I know, I know) and it used to cut out on a regular basis. Very embarassing. Then wouldn't start for ages, just made a horrendous noise like an alley cat had got caught in the fanbelt.

A friend had this problem with his 4.0 Griff.
It was something to do with the fuel pump or fuel pump relay if I remember. Remember that immobilisers often tw@t around with this circuit!
Hope this helps.

Im not sure if this is any help, but my CRX used to have a problem where I had a half knackered battery. A lot of relay are fed directly by the battery, hence, after a drive and a 2 minute rest i.e petrol fill-up it wouldnt start and had to be bump started. Im not sure if Tivs have a similar set up with their relays.
