Having had a company van done the biggest problem was where to put the tank as they take up loads of room in comparison to petrol tanks. I can only assume that the add should read "no boot what so ever and a range on Gas of 5 miles!!!" Oh yes and he won't be allowed on the shuttle to go to Le mans.

Maybe there is something to learn from the Range Rover / Land Rover owners out there - well the ones with the V8's anyway.

There is a massive (ok not all, but most of the enthusiats) uptake of conversion to LPG. Get the old 3.5 and 3.9 V8s converted to LPG and you HALVE, yes HALVE your fuel bill. Ok, you dont get more to the gallon, but LPG is half the cost of Unleaded - and thats before we start talking about Super....

I am lead to believe that the process is simple and actually very easy for the old Rover V8 (and derivatives) due to the engine design. Can cost upwards of £1K - £2K for the full conversion, but you do get a "powershift" grant to cover most of the work. When you consider the price of petrol, might end up seeing more TVRs converted.

Only problem is the space to put the tank though. Not sure where you put it on a Griff - Chimp would be better, but only just.

No way do you halve your fuel bills:

It maybe half the price but your economy is reduced by 15% and more importantly performance by a similar figure. In my experience the end result is that the vehicles are driven harder to achieve the same average speed so the economy suffers even more. Also although the Government have extended the grants scheme to cover vehicles upto 5 years its only if the vehicle is on their approved for conversion list. I don't think we are about to see a huge influx of gas tivs we've all spent too much money buying sports cars for their thrill and performance to suffer the losses and lets face it if economy was really an issue we wouldn't have bought them in the first place.

We must have one or two lpgheads amongst us?

I am thinking of doing my second car, only cos I have a mate who runs an LPG business so can do it for less than full whack.

Powershift grants are only for brand new cars I think, and the proportion you can claim depens on the petrol-guzzling status of the car.
