500 development history
Discussion
The 500 underwent lots of changes during its production - Gearbox, brakes, engine, etc, etc.
Is there any way to find a list of these changes?
There is lots of info in this forum, but digging it out could take me a month. Also checked the 'bible', and while it mentions some points at the beginning of each chapter, the overall picture is not so clear.
The reason behind this, is that I am trying to compare at mid 95 car to a late 98. Not much difference in price or milage, and the 95 car has been immaculately maintained.

Had both. The 98 car is leaps and bounds an improvement, mainly in build quality. The engine/gearbox/brakes are the same although the 98 car will have the 320 spec ECU chip. Main changes are to springs/shocks which seemed to change every day. There are cosmetic things in terms of Chrome bezels and different alarm but that is pretty minor.
There is so much variation that the only way to compare them is to drive them. A good 98 car will be better than a good 95 car but a good/execellent 95 car could well be a better buy than a so-so 98.
Try them and see.
