Dear all,

Have just been quoted a surprising amount for 4 new pieces of rubber ....

225/50/15 S03's £128 each
235/45/16 S03's £168 each

Has anyone managed to do much better than this or am I destined to spend a small fortune.

Cheers

Rich

I was quoted this morning:

SO3s

£82.72 for 205 55 15s
£106 for 225 50 15s.

Both loose, unfitted. Still a bargain I reckon.

Rude girl ...

Price looks good for the fronts, who was that with ???

I am North West based but could use a decent price to barter with.

Thanks

Worth giving these guys a ring:

www.micheldever.co.uk/

Can't tell you prices for your wheels but I paid £650 inc. delivery for a set of 18s S03s for my old cerbie. They were the cheapest I could find.

Maybe look at:

I notice S-03PP's in 245/45/ZR16 are £117.10 each including VAT and delivery. However, what does one do about fitting? Surely your local tyre fitters aren't going to be too chuffed if you just turn up and ask for a fitting and balancing service are they?

It was Southam Tyres, Southam, Warwickshire

Tel 01926 813510

Nice chap, seemed quite knowledgeable.

I asked for the price loose, because the car isn't delivered until the weekend and I want the tyres here ready. My local tyre fitter will put them on for a tenner a corner or a pint and a hoon round the back roads!

245/45/16 SO3s from Roadwheel (Bagshot, not to be confused with Roadhell in Baghdad) just last Friday - £129 each fitted, balanced, new valves and including VAT...

Indeed they are. Had 2 x 245/45/16 S03s fitted last week. Price for the pair including VAT + fitting £230.30

Compare that to £240 each at the AA and £180 each at Kwik Fit!

Glad to hear that Bracknell tyres are competative. Since moving to Yateley I've found Micheldever Tyres a bit of a trek to get to. Wasn't so bad when I was in Basingstoke.

re: fitting services - I've just confirmed that Central Tyres nr. Blackwater station do a fitting service. I enquired when they did 4-wheel tracking on the Corrado for me yesterday (which was an altogether very reasonable £26-odd).

I am trying to sort some new tyres for the griff but I'm a bit confused with the sizes? TVR state F: 205/55/15 R: 235/50/16 I have SO2's on there now and they are F:225/50/15 R:225/50/16

Can anyone tell me what the ideal size is to go for?

Well as I understand it, the 500's were fitted with; front 205 55x15 for non-PAS cars and 225 50x15 for PAS cars and 245 45x16 rears. Rich...

Rich those sizes are right for my non-PAS car and I was recently quoted £485 for a new set of fitted S03's. That didn't sound too bad.

Spent a bit of time hunting round for tyres at lunchtime as I'll be needing some in the next couple of months and a Garage one mile from my house will supply and fit new S03's all round for £430 which sounds like excellent value for money.

I also found on the net S02's so could potentially order a whole new set of those at roughly £90 for the front and £130 for the rear.

My only wish is that Toyo's can't be bought for the front, Z rated. Found a website that can supply ones for the rear for £87 each!!! Sent Toyo an email asking if they'll be making Z rated 205/55/15's so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get a positive reply from them.

Hope some of this helps and if nothing it proves that you can save a lot just by having a good look around.

Cheers - Chris
