When CV joints have gone on mine they always seem to knock when the suspension is compressed - so the knocking starts either side under acceleration, or the outer wheel on cornering. As the CV joint gets worse it needs less acceleration/cornering to make it knock until eventually it does it all the time. If yours has gone like this, I guess it would not show up with the weight off the wheel.

What about the anti rollbar mounting rubbers. A previous car i had suffered from knoclking during bends and it turned out to be a badly perished rear mounting rubber.
Although second thoughts I dont think 92 Griffs have them do they?
