How much stick will it take ?

I'm sure that I'm no different to all of you other Griff owners on here and I reckon we all like to give our Griff's a good dose of right foot when its possible.
I'm intelligent enough to know that driving round at 6,300 revs in 2nd gear everywhere is not going to do the car many favours but I often wonder how much stick these cars will actually take before they start to retaliate.
Any thoughts ........ ?

I'm no expert on the Griff but was told that they have 4.2 pistons from the range rover. If so these aren't very clever items. The same person has also pulled 3 tvr engines apart and said they all have a lot of valve stem wear. If your reasonably sympathetic to your engine it should be fine. If you abuse it then I'd expect something to let go but what is anybody's guess.

I would say however that in my experience it is pointless going above 5500rpm - this is where the max power is and tbh the engine starts to sound a bit annoyed at anything higher. I have heard several stories of the limiter being set too high to avoid damage anyway.....

Which reminds me, who is the bloke who has a red Griff awaiting a new engine at Mech Repairs. Someone mentioned that you might have been revving it to >7000rpm and broke the crank. Oops!

So in the interest of engine longevity, 6000 rpm is a good limit to keep below.
If the Griff was a dark metallic red, then it sounds like Mike Catania's.
He's normally at the top end of any TVRMidland Speed sprinting events he competes in (making good use of that 7000 rpm!), and I notice, from my final instructions for this weekend's sprint at 3 Sisters in Wigan, he has had to cancel. So putting two and two together...
