on the Hovercraft, and have a few questions. Are there any ground clearance issues getting on and off the Hovercraft? Not sure wether to take travel insurance out for this trip...Is the E111 form enough coverage? Do I have to have a GB sticker/badge? What is the best type to use without damaging paintwork? Do I need those amber coloured headlight covers? Which type are the best suited?

Oops...wrong forum, though advice from any Griff pilots would also be appreciated!

Ted, can you move this to the General TVR forum please?

E111 is for medical cover only. It won't cover any other expenses. It allows you to recieve medical treatment as a 'local' would (ie you won't have to stump up dosh or give insurance details first) - the bill is then sent to the NHS.
GB sticker - yes you are meant to have one, or a number plate with the GB bit on. But loads of people don't.
Headlights - you don't have to have yellow lights, that was yonks ago in France. You should have beam deflectors tho' (although lots don't bother )
Stop worrying & go!

I've driven cars down to Le Mans in the past and would recommend that you get AA 5 star service- which would include a flatbed service back to blighty etc. should anything go awry.
They also include beam deflector stickers ( and, IIRC, a vinyl GB sticker for the boot) in the pack they send you.

Here's a tip: use scissors to cut the sticker down to neat square and then rub a very small amount of vaseline (just a smudge) onto the paintwork where your'e putting it. It'll then peel off easily upon return.

If you want to play it straight, law-wise, your'e required to carry a full set of bulb replacements and a reflective warnlng triangle (unless the law's changed in the last 8 years or so).

One last thing- I hope your'e taking a passenger- it makes overtaking trucks/tractors on A & B roads so much easier with someone letting you know when it's safe to boot it.

Good luck- and don't worry about ground clearance boarding!
