Is my transmission normal?
I've just purchased a Griffith 500 and there is a clunking noise when I come on or off the power. Is this normally expected? Is it the differential? How much are the differentials and where can they be purchased.
Some play is normal, but it should not be enough to be obvious in normal driving. Excess play might be point to a problem sith diff, or worn/loose CVs, or loose/broken diff mounts, or a worn gearbox or propshaft.
I had the same on my 500 - it was the diff mounts. If you do have a new diff fitted, make sure the mounts are changed...... they are cheap to replace when the diff is off the car.... to have one go after the new diff has been fitted will cost £s as the exhaust system needs to come of
