I have got a 92 Griff 4.0. There is a slight problem with the tickover speed. If I switch the engine off when it is quite warm (After driving in traffic usually). When I restart it (after less than 15 mins of standing) the tickover shoots up to 2K plus. It sorts itself out after a couple of minutes driving and behaves perfectly at all other times. I have had the stepper motor checked by a couple of dealers who reckon it's fine. Any ideas?

One thing which worked for mine and several owners ive chatted to one here is to disconnect the ECU or disconnect the battery. When you reconnect the ECU will play around with idles and mixtures for a few hundred miles and then optimise itself for your engine condition. The idle will alter quite a bit during this time but should level out eventually.

at the mo I have to do this on a regular basis as it gradually becomes a total b*****d to drive in town till I reset the ECU.....lambda sensor maybe?
