Any suggestions where I can get hold of a fireproof / flame retardent race suit & ideally a class " a " helmet in the same place.

Somewhere in the Essex or surrounding areas would suit me best.

North Weald sprint is looming, so I need to get sorted this week!

Helmet from any bike shop, it is essential to try them on and get a good fit. Race suits you can buy mail order from the usual places, Grand Prix, Demon Tweaks etc. If you want to try them on, Rally Design in Faversham are the closest place I can think of but there may be others in London nearer. Shame Ripspeed have gone as they wold have been quite close to you. You will find loads of adverts in the blue book that came with your competition license, and also in all the motorsport mags.

By the way I still haven't received an application from you for the TVRCC Speed Championship, I hope you will register. You can find the form at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TVR_Speed_Champ and application by email is fine.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
Coordinator, TVRCC Speed Championship

Thanks for the info Pete,

Ordered the suit from Demon Tweeks today, delivery supposedly tomorrow.

Unfortunately, black not avilable for a few weeks, so look out for a chubby version of Schumacher in racing red.

PS- Hopefully you rec'd my emailed registration form today.

PPS - Got the bible a few days ago & was interested to read the section on not using engine gearing to brake due to the potential effects of the torque on the back end.
Damn, I wont be able to master heel & toeing before Sunday as I am guilty of using a combination of engine breaking & the brake for the last 13 or so years.

You old pro's will have to give me some tips on the day.

All the best.

Yes got the form OK. Don't need heel-n-toe, stay off the brakes altogether and if you need to slow down just put the car sideways. Sorry I'm probably not helping am I!

Thanks Pete.

As for mastering heel and toe.... in the interim just use the brake for braking and select the gear of your choice just before you need it. Not ideal but less risky than engine breaking.

Of course when the red mist descends, you forget about everything

Thanks for the words of wisdom old boys.

Had a quick look at the entry list & notice the Green v8s isn't listed for North Weald ( or did I miss it ).

Will try & watch & learn from the Bible writer.

PS ( Is your nickname God ? )

No, I'm afraid the green V8S is currently minus gearbox and radiator amongst other stuff. Hopefully see you at some of the following events.
