Black dial edging
Discussion
Around 1995 TVR went through several different instrument suppliers so I cannot tell you which ones you have. Most of the instrumants used by TVR have metal bezels. The Zertec Griffith has SW guages that were originally black rimmed. However with care I removed all the black paint and polished the bezels (have a close look at the cockpit shot in the Zertec Development car article). I also installed an oil temperature guage on the steering column also from SW. When I ordered the guage they asked if I wanted a stainless steel or black bezel, I said stainless, thinking that this would save some effort. It came with a black bezel with a really cr@p stainless bezel pushed on top. So I threw away the bezel and repeated the paint removal and polishing exercise.
It is fairly easy to remove the dash, only takes about 10 minutes. then you can test a hidden part of a bezel to check what metal is lurking under the paint. Be warned, the early clock had a brass bezel....

I've done the same mod with my guages. Its not easy!! Remove dash top and instruments. You have to then carefully prise the bezels all the way around each instument before they will pop off. Mine were brass, so I sprayed with an aluminium/chrome type spray and then coated in clear laquer. Replacing the bezels without damaging the new paint is even harder!!
Good luck- it looks good when reassembled.
