Gurgling water noise
Discussion
Need a bit of reassuarance.... Started the griff up today, and every minute or so for the first 5 minutes there was the sound of gurgling/gushing water coming from the passenger footwell. Thought I was hearing things at first as it has never done this before. Is this water in the heating pipes or something to get checked out?
air in the cooling system would be my bet.
the heater pipes run thru there, and the air has got in there from the main cooling system.
is your water level ok?
if air has been drawn in from the header tank that may not be a problem, top up and bring the car to temp. LET IT COOL and repeat the process to fill (half way).
CHECK ALL HOSES, CLAMPS AND CHECK FOR WATER ON THE FLOOR.
don't think half a pint is too much to worry about (from comments on here) but mines never lost a drop in three years and it sounds like yours never used to either.
if it continues to loose...get it pressure tested.
KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON IT AS RUNNING VERY LOW ON COOLANT CAN WARP HEADS AND POP GASKETS!

Used to top mine up every week, till the hairline radiator leak got visibly bigger.
Mended and presto the intermittant gurgling went away too.. got kinda endearing though cause it worked quite well as a 'fill me up' indicator..
Though steve's right as well, swing your doors around and check for a sloshing...
Thanks guys - just checked the water level, and it seems fine (about half way down the expansion tank). Also, the car has been kept in the dry for the past few weeks so the door thing doesn't seem likely in this case.
Think I'll just try not to worry too much about the car. Otherwise, it'll probably lead to a premature grave!
