I have a 96 Griff 500, which I bought in April 2001 with 31k on the clock. The car runs well and generally I'm very happy - but. Once the engine has warmed up a bit I get this howling/whining noise coming from under the bonnet somewhere. The oil pressure, temperature etc are fine and the car does not over heat - anyone got any idea what it could be?

could be one of the pulleys on the ancilleries belt, squirt some penetrating oil on to the back of one try it out then another till it stops, that should point to the prob

No - but I haven't seen the neighbours mutt for a while - I'll have to check for any remains.

Got exactly the same prob with my 11K '96 Griff. Noise is worse when backing off the gas, sounds like it's comming from the plenum chamber area. Anyway try the WD40 and see how you get on,i'd be interested to know.Won't get round to mine for a while.

My engine sounds like it chuggs, it pulls ok and isnt missing, very strange. Its only noticable when in to higher a gear. Change gear I suppose. Quite amusing to listen to, is this normal?
