Griff prices...
Discussion
A little forward planning, if i may.
I'm going to be in the position to buy a Griffith in around two years time. There was talk on the wedges board (another alternative) of wedge prices rising, as there aren't many left.
I was just wondering where you see the prices for Griffiths going. Will they keep dropping, level out, or head north?

Who's that, Mrs Best by any chance
I think u r probably right though, dont know wether its a bit of a rush by people as the Griffith has siezed production and they want to own there future classic or not.
Shant be getting rid of mine for a few years yet as it really is the car i allways wanted and has lived up to everything i dreamed of it being.( shant be test driving any Tuscans in case i get hooked, hey Pete).
In 2yrs time god only knows. They are deffiantly a sought after car so only the future will tell but personally i cant see them rising in two years and if they did i dont think they would shoot up.
Good Luck

yeah, know what you mean BB, going round in circles to find something to replace the Griff and keep coming back to Griff. We both love Tuscans but are concerned about latent serious engine probs on a car 2/3 years old.
look forward to seeing the infamous nana on the road again
In my experience cars seem to go through a phase of being painfully unpopular/unfashionable before the nostalgia kicks in and everybody raves about how great they were and starts buying them again.
There was a time when you couldn't give an e-type away.
I personally don't think the Griff has dipped enough in price or desirability yet to bounce back up.
There does seem to be a glut of Chimps at the moment, which will surely affect Griff prices.
And I should know about unfashionable cars.
I've owned wedges for the past eight years!

Good Griffs are in incredibly short supply this spring and prices are firm. The Griff may be unusual in that it has always been popular since its original launch. IMO I am certain that it is destined to be a classic. There were plenty of Chimps for sale in January, less in February and now mostly less attractive examples or ones that are a bit ambitious with their price!

Looks like they're heading North if this month's Sprint is anything to go by:
TVR Griffith 4.5BV for £38,000.00 ono!!!
I think its Steve Beresford's car.
Is the 1992 Griffith 5.0BV still in existence?

My thoughts (in a position to buy sometime after Easter):
S's and wedges occupy the £2k - £10k zone and will continue to do so. V8S is nice, but scarce. Probably hang arond at £8k-£12k as some cars wear and tear, but others fall off the road. Same theory for early Griffs - despite their drawbacks these are the classics of the future. Really good cars might continue to close on £15k.
The interesting factor is all the Chims. There are literally 1000s about and like for like they are and will continue to be cheaper than a Griff. So if Chims continue downwards of £9k - £10k, will Griffs follow suit? Maybe...depends on legislation (eg compulsory retro-fit cats would negate the 4.x cars greatest advantage), economy, war etc.
Personally I'm going to buy late spring / early summer whatever - sure there may be a premium for the season, but then again, war, economic volatility and rising fuel prices might just mean my purchase time-scale isn't so inappropriate.
Only my opinion you understand.

Judging by this i recon Griffiths will become like the classic Ferraris of the Eighties and fetch up to a million ...
powelly said: This is beginning to read like a thread on some of the share tracking sites during the 'tech stock' boom of 2 years ago...... we'll have people stocking up with Griff's soon 'cos they're cheap.... :-)
If anyone fancies stocking up, i'll be needing one in a couple of years.....
