New Rear Number Plate
Discussion
I am putting on new number plates, the rear number plate is back lite, so can I use a conventional plate from Halfords which has a solid grey backing, I assume not as the backing on the current plate is indented so as to light through. Any one know where I can get the correct plate made up.
You're right, you can't use the plates from good ol' Halfords. You need the special 'let the light through' ones. You can get them from:

Or for less than half the price from Auto Marque Ltd www.uknumberplates.com but best to phone them as they don't say TVR specific on website 01474 535927 oh and if you ask they even put the little TVR logo in purple bottom centre.
I took a photo of my griff over the weekend & noticed that the rear number plate flashed back. When I viewed the image on the digital camera it appeared just as a glowing haze over the number plate, (reg unreadable)
Is it likely that a Gatso would see the same thing. ie nothing.
PS - it was fitted by a performance car dealer & TVR dealer in the west country & even has there name on it .
Surely not an illegal one?
It may have saved me once as I was doing about 31 in a 30 zone, when a gatso flashed at night near London. I never did here anything back!
Also, does anyone know where small front number plates can be got as I have seen a few on Griffs & think they look good as well as the likely cooling benefits they may bring.

I'm about to get my Griff MOTd for the first time. I already changed the reg and put legal (non-seethru) plates on it. An MOT tester told me that my legal plates will fail an mot as they are not illuminated.
Wasn't the number plate law changed in January, to make all car plates more photogenic, or something? Seeing as the see thru plates are not BS standard, wouldn't a Griff with them fail an MOT too?
THe only solution I can think of is to make or buy some external numberplate lights on rubber suckers for MOT tests. Could this be a new accessory for Leven to make?
Any other owners had this problem? How do I get round it? Any thoughts welcome....
