Hoping to add some more miles today but the car stubbornly refuses to play ball. The alarm and central locking work fine but the immobiliser will not let go when the ignition is turned on.

The led on the immobiliser does not come on at all and it also ignores the immobiliser key. Everything has worked fine for the last 14 months. I've tried all combinations of keys/key fobs/sequences but car refuses to play ball.

I've even tried bribery by promising to wash it more often but its still sulking.

I've checked the threads but wondered if anyone has had the same symptions and found a resolution (short of cutting out the immobiliser!!)

Any help is gratefully appreciated,
thanks
Chas.

chas, I had a similar problem with a sigma immobiliser which the insurance company insisted I had fitted a couple of months ago. it worked fine until my wife drove it!! (much arguing followed)
turned out she'd adjusted the steering wheel height and, as there isn't much room under the column cover this had pulled a wire loose.
The fitting engineers sorted it foc & were very apologetic.

Chas,
My griff currently requires that I turn the ignition on, (till the battery lights come on, Pos 2?) then insert the flat immobiliser key, leave for a sec, then remove. This switches the pump on and un-immobilises the car. Dunno if you've already tried this.

Thanks for the responses.....

Armed with multimeter I attcaked the car this morning. 3 hours later after intense probing and pulling apart of electrics it still refused to co-operate.

Decided to admit defeat and call out the AA to get vehicle towed to Hawthorns. Pushed car out of garage, plip'd the central locking and set the alarm. (Not sure why since it wouldn't start)

AA man arrives and says wot's the problem Guv. Unlock car turn key.......and guess what. Immobiliser lets go and every thing fires into life. Much muttering and shuffling of feet and AA man goes away with big grin.

Not really sure what resolved the problem. Leaving the alarm set for a while (its normally unset in the garage as the garage is alarmed and it saves getting a flat battery) or early summer sun on the car.

Either way it works so thanks but must rush as time to test using a few gallons of finest Optimax.

Thanks
Chas.
