And no, it wasn't me! Was stuck in traffic on my way home this evening, and the car started producing this weird smell as it heated up. I'm guessing it was hot fibre glass - it smelt pretty pungent! Is this evidence of knackered heat shielding? Should I be worried? Help O wise ones!
You should be able to tell by looking at the condition of the heat shield, the silver covering needs to be intact, if you can see the fibre glass mat showing through it needs replacing.

Appears the bonnet heat shielding was drooping down and touching the main water swirl tank, and consequently melting! Oh well, easy fix....
