For Steve Heath (re numbers)
Discussion
Steve,
Thanks for answering my question about how many 4.3 Griffs made. I've noticed more and more of these "how many" questions.
When I was involved in Motor Trade, many, many, many, many years ago, the SMMT used to publish figures for car production on a monthly basis. Was this an obligatory thing for manufacturers, or voluntary, do you know. If obligatory, wouldn't they have TVR manufacture figures by model?
Just a thought!

SMMT normally lump TVR's into "other British" in their figures.

The factory do not consider the provision of detailed model build numbers as a high priority - too busy making cars - and this type of information has been pretty scarce in recent years. It is also confused because the VIN plates do not necessarily indiacte which engine varient/model they are talking about. Add to that the fact that TVR Power further modded cars after production and it is very difficult to establish exactly what these figures are, especially engine variations.
