I’m sure some of you remember that my neighbour reversed into my parked Griff 500 ripping the door off, well he still hasn’t coughed up any money to the insurance company so I’ve lost all but 2 years of my NCD, my renewal this year was £2091 from Peart for unlimited mileage, Sunninghill quoted £1691 and Mannings gave me £1541.25 or £1155 limited to 5000 miles

Heritage came up with a very good price of £851, limited to 5000 miles again but includes commuting and TVRCC track days, not bad for a 25-year-old living in London with an outstanding claim.

Ouch - you seem to be taking this quite philosophically?!

"Old git" insurance will see you alright: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=13&h=&t=27618

Well I paid about £950 for limited mileage on the S when I got it, ok I was 23 but I suppose paying £100 less for the Griff is not to bad, if I had all my bonus it would have brought it down a lot though!

Sometimes I really feel like paying that neighbour a little visit, especially since he’s bought himself a V reg 306, wonder if he’s got that one insured.

Yes - I meant the door-ripping-NCD-effect. Overall that's not too bad.

Perhaps his Pug wants to consider a redesign?

I pay £602 fully comp.protected NCB for Me 38 plus wife (some f***ing chance of driving it), they auto quoted me on line through lloyds and insured by Churchills. The quote was for a Griffith 2000 series ??. luckily i saved the quote of which i had stated it was a 97 R Griffith but had not mentioned it was a 500 (so stupid of me for thinking that saying 1997 R Griffith meant something completely different ie a 30 year old griff). much too-ing and fro-ing they said they wanted £890, i said poke it. Found other quote from Sunninghill for £700. But low and behold Churchills came back and stood by there quote. BTW its limited to 6000 per year

38yrs old, garaged 1996 Griff, unlimited miles, business use, wife can drive, 605 from Direct Line, including protected NCD.

Always worth having a look at the mainstream insurers.

Paul,
Have you tried Classicline (in Sprint). They quoted me £379 for 3k miles with no NCB. Virtually the same deal as Heritage except no trackday cover. Over £500 for 5k miles though. I'll try to remember to bring the details on Sunday. Is yours garaged-it makes quite a difference.

Paul.

I'm with Heritage as well, £500 fully comp with 5k mile per year limit, 33 years old, full NCB and shiny licence, but on a 4.3 1992 car - qualifiying for 'classic status' due to age ( the car not me)

I have an SP30 and 3 points, I don't think that makes much difference, most people have something in these camera infested times. I think Heritage probably offer the best overall deal if you take the trackday cover and recovery (including abroad) into account. When I took the S policy out with them 2 years ago, you could carry forward any unused miles forward to the next year. May not be true anymore though.

Forget all this restricted mileage, caveated this that and the other nonsense. Sunninghill insure my Griff 500 on their TVR policy, unlimited mileage, protected no claims, me and the other half, breakdown recovery, free additional extra car cover while yours is in the shop, every bell and whistle you can think of, for under £500.

Slightly OT.

I've just had me and wifes renewal quote for Chimp95N 400, 5Kpa max, alarmed and garaged from Manning/Cornhill at 386GBP, which includes ininsured loss recovery but no NCD protection or trackdays. The price seems fine (old git back to TVR for just 1 year with no NCD), but they are now insist upon a CAT1 or 2 alarm. The existing one works fine.
GIven that the vehicle is used around 3K PA,rural, and goes back to bed before nightfall, I dont want to have to pay out another 350 quid for something that will just not have a positive benefit to me, unlike 350 quid put toward mods.
Anyone else experienced this problem, and, more importantly, have you got round it and how?

Cheers Rob

Hasn't it got the standard (Meta 99? Foxguard) on it?

If you need proof, it might be a tenner for a certificate at an alarm specialist or the standard TVR letter (for free)???

Surely the fact that he hasn't payed them any money should not affect your insurance. You have made a claim against him and he has, I assume, admitted liability. This should nolonger count against you. It is their responsibility to re-coup this money from him.

If they have not then I would push them as to why. Explain that he has just bought a V reg 306, so must have the money. If all else fails then see if you can sue him for the extra insurance costs.

Because of its age it may have the earlier Gemini which is apparently delisted for insurance purposes (according to Mark at Mannings). I havent consulted the SH bible to see if I can identify the type yet, but should that not prove successful, it goes to Offords next week and they will look.

Sorry Beano, dont understand. What std letter? How would I get one?

Cheers Rob
