Hi Mongoose. We are also Le Mans virgins but are traveling with Devon & Cornwall TVRCC along with other regions. We will meet at Portsmouth on 11th June for the 14.45 ferry to Cherbourg and then traveling on towards Le Man, returning on Monday 16th at midday with P&O. If you are interested call P&O direct to book. Look forward to seeing you.

Hi Mongoose,
Going in the Griff, been several times before but only looking at going Thursday night or Friday morning, not worried which way we go, so mail me if you want to make a convoy?
Camping at Maison Blanche, could be a really good year.

thanks for replys so far folks.just thought id add that im probably looking at leaving tues 10th,and returning mon 16th from portsmouth to either caen or cherbourg.nothing firm yet though.so far rough qouted prices for crossing are £300! is this the going rate or is there a cheaper way of dodging this extortion(im told these rates are deliberately due to le mans).
still cant wait to go though!

Cheapest route is via Dover, Sea France almost certainly, but you will need to build in all the xtra fuel costs driving down from Calais and the road tolls, but judging by the other posts on here, it could still work out cheaper and you will get a serious trip out in the Griff, just beware the French now time you between the motorway toll booths, so if your average speed is too high, they will ask you to pull over and see the gendarmes.

Hopefully i will be going in mine on the Thursday morning through the chunnel £106 returning on the Monday.
Genrally i drive across to Alecon, then To Rouen and straight down to Le Mans.
There are quite a few different routes obvious the motorways( Autoroutes) are quickest but are a bit boring.
I normally do the Autoroutes to Rouen then take the N roads.

Hi Mongoose, we are leaving on Thursday morning via the tunnel with my Grif and another car. Booked through an agent - £200 per head, incl tunnel, race tickets (basic) and camping plot.

Never been before but looking forward to it. I can even get the roof in the boot with the tent! Not room for much else but I'll probably find space for the RAC recovery card and a can of Tyreweld!
