Just posting this to say hello,

taken delivery of a Griff 500 a month ago; 1st real performance car. Can't believe the performance, difficult to keep the right foot from going down too far, what a grin making machine!

Car sourced by Rob Ingelby, did a fantastic job. I was with him when he checked the car over, did a very thorough job.

My Griff is dark blue with a biscuit interior, R Reg and live in the Nottingham area. Wave as you go past!

Heard stories about Griff's being unreliable, did'nt put me off buying one but how true are these stories or are they just people without the b***s to own one?

From one very happy Griff-owning chappy.

Welcome to the fold mate.

Unreliable storys, yep exactly....... stories, that are normally told by peeps that havent owned one.
They have there little niggles but then they're one of a kind.

And if Rob hsa looked and recommended one then u should have a good'un.

Welcome to Griffland, we've had ours for over 2 years now and to be fair it has been more reliable than most mass produced bollox we have had. Used on a regular basis they are great but do get grumpy if kept as a weekend car. Waxoyl the chassis, get the geometery checked, wheels balanced, use a digtal tyre pressure gauge regularly, find a good independant for servicing and you have found speed/noise heaven as cheaply as is possible

welcome to the Griff gang, best thing you can do is sort out niggles straight away. This can save £££'s in the long run. As you said origionally, most bad press comes from non owners. They do have a few little things going wrong, but there no worse than any other TVR and no worse than any other make of motor. Well done for choosing the most beautiful of TVR's by the way.

Welcome to the fold, if you get a chance get some pictures up on your profile and this thread...

You should be fine with it, great time of year to buy as well. You tend to forget the joys of owning a TVR in the winter (they can be a pain in the arse when it's pissing it down), first sunny day and it all comes flooding back.

Mine has never let me down and I’m finding it hard to justify my green flag membership, but you know what will happen if I cancel it.

To be fair these are enthusiasts cars and just need a little understanding, and are the worth it ?

Oh YES…..

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi mate, had my 98 griff for 10 months 5 days 6hrs 4mins... not that i'm counting. Best thing i've ever treated myself too. been totally reliable, few small niggles, nothing that a bit of TLC didnt put right. If your in hertfordshire at all or going to Le mans give us an email...
Be carefull out there.....

Sorry I may be a little late on this conversation but yes you have made the right choice. We bought our Griff 400 last summer and I am still wearing you guessed it the 'Stupid Grin'.

Just over 4 months into my own ownership and the grin just gets bigger everyday. Not had any unreliability and used everyday...even in the winter. It wants to be driven not shut away in a horrible dark garage.

Welcome to heaven

Nice choice - you'll enjoy it until it bites then you'll pussy foot until it kicks again. Part of the learning curve with these beasts. Remember they are putting out as much torque at idle as the Cerbie boys get on full heat

Look after the cooling system - may run fine now but it needs to be tip top when you get it out in summer.

Above all enjoy, you've got a great car and remember, there were only 2,500 or so ever made.

Hard to imagine that only 2500 of these fantastic motors were ever built. Thats maybe why some people cant help but smile when you drive past them.

Thanks for all the welcomes, it's great knowing there are all those like minded people out there.

I'm booked into the Bruntingthorpe track day on the 24 May, can't wait to experience the full potential of this fantastic car! Hopefully may see some of you there.

Regards

Andrew

Yeah welcome to the best club in the world!

Had mine almost a year. Unreliable? Well, I've had to fork out for a new fan belt...
