the griff hasn't been out to play for a couple of weeks so I have just been to start it up and let it run for a while. I ran it for about 10mins then backed it into the garage again but as I was locking up I realised there was a puddle of water under the front end just below the radiator! I've checked the hoses and it doesn't appear to be coming from there so I can only presume it's the radiator itself.
Any thoughts? Any one had similar problems?

Could be a crack in the rad. A pressure test will indicate if there is a leak. Solution is a new rad or have the old one re-cored.

You haven't got A/C by any chance?

It couldn't be from sitting in the bodywork somewhere?

(Just clutching for straws)

mine did the same over the Xmas holidays - whilst running I got on my ar$e and watched the steady stream of coolant pi$$ out.

Twas indeed the rad core, but as still under 1st yr warranty was replaced foc - but had to wait for TVR to "find" one of the rad's showing up as in their store-cupboard.

If it had been down to me - I think I would have gone somewhere like Alan Docking and had a "proper" one made up.

Looking on the brighterside if the last time you took it out was in the wet then its possible that there was water sitting in the Ledge under the RAd and then u moving it out forced the water out throught the draining holes at either end of this lip.

But if its I can Highluy Recommend Kempston Radiators in Kempston,Bedford for any RAD Work, Recores/Tanks etc. mail me if you want there number.

I did my last one around October time, it cost £140 for a re-core by Serk Intertruck and fitted by yours truly.

Cheers,

Simon.

Looks like it is indeed the rad core, following Beasts advise I sat on my arse with it running and watched the coolant pi$$ out!! Fortunately I might be able to swing a replacement under the warranty!
The fans also don't seem to be coming on, I've shorted the connections to the otter switch & they work so duff otter switch it is!!
Only had it a month, is this the cold reality of living with a Griff?

Just a few minor teething troubles.

When the Griff is born in Blackpool, it comes with a lot of love and care built into it. Usually takes a month or so to get to know its new owner, while still mourning for its previous life. Usually takes a bit of TLC and attention from its new owner until becoming used to the owners every need and mood.

If, for example, its previous life involved sitting in a garage doing not a lot, it will take a little extra TLC before it realises that it is going to have a happy life out on the road every day.

Certainly equates to my experience - don't give up on it yet, or let it see that you're losing faith!

Dont forget although the car is only 1 month old to you, it's now 11 years since it's build

Dont worry - a Griff's not just for Xmas

Both warranty items so whilst irritating, should not cost you.

thanks for the moral boost guys! i'm much more upbeat now! I've actually invested in the leven engine cooling kit as I thought it's probably worth changing out the otter switch and thermostat for the lower rated ones at the same time as the rad. Any thoughts on the 'wetter water' product though? I have read it doesn't work with antifreeze so it's only any good in the summer months.

Just to clear up a point. Water Wetter does mix with anti-freeze so can be used all year. (Technicially it is more efficient with less anti-freeze but some anti-freeze is recommended for year round corrosion and other protection.) If anyone would like more details please e-mail us direct.
