Yearly service

Does anyone, when only covering 3000 or so miles per year only have a service every 2 years. I do this but do a yearly oil change my self. It seems a bit daft to have a yearly service, I cant beleive anything has changed that much in 1 year. My MOT is 6 months after the service. Thoughts anyone please.

Yeah, know what you mean,I look after my car myself but I do have a service at MOT time as they fall at the same time,I use a good independent who follows the TVR schedule but leaves out the silly stuff like checking lock lubrication and targa seals etc. at my request and concentrates on safety related items and alignments etc. which saves a wad of cash and gives me peace of mind in case I have missed something.Why change spark plugs every year for example if the mileage is low and they pass inspection.They do the MOT prep and chaperone the car so the MOT mechanics don't thrash the nuts off it.I must admit to being unhappy with the main dealer sevice rates , particullarly with an older car and regular owner maintenance does seem a waste of money, I know my car inside out now and cant see the point in giving it to a dealer when I can buy more petrol instead.
