1. can anyone tell me where i find the other side of the wiper arm bolt, i looked under the dash the divers side and cannot see it coming through, do i need to take some of the dash off to find them???
2. been trying to check the water level in my car for ages now but cant get the dam cap off and i dont want to break it, its a blue plastic cap and quite small, also theres a screw on the front of my swirl tank near the top do i need to undo this to let out any stored pressure first or am i just weak.

Neither one that dumb - you'll have to try harder!

Dunno the first one - so that's not dumb!

You will find the blue cap is on tight (standard VW part, I think, if you bust it so some comfort there).

No you shouldn't need to attack the swirl tank unless/until you get an airlock.

Edited to add that there's no catch to undoing the cap, it just screws on/off the obvious way.

I would seriously get under that blue cap and ensure your coolant level is OK, though.

I top up by a few inches a week......

Being a Mr Muscle as well I use the baby-boa thingy that was reviewed in Classics and Sportscar some time ago - you can get it in Halfords for a £5

Its an adjustable rubber ring (hmmm)that you tighten round the cap and then turn - mind your knuckles on the exhaust manifold though...!

easy really just cut a hole in the bulkhead behind the dash....

Whay do you really want to know? What are you really trying to do as th other end of the bolt goes into a whell house and is not accessible.

Smear some vaseline around the spindle/fitting and see if the leaks stop.
