seal around front lights
Discussion
The front light covers on the Griff need re-sealing and I wondered whether anyone takes the shortcut of removing the old sealant without taking the light covers off? It seems so tempting to just clear off as much of the old sealant as possible and then simply apply new sealant with the covers still in place. I appreciate dismantling should achieve a better result but it would be SO much quicker if it’s possible (and effective) without disturbing everything.
Just a warning, I have seen Griffs where people have replaced the seal themselves (like the Griff at Le Mans last year). Looks very ugly! If you are Mr. Silicone Sealant then go for it but if like me you end up with dry, cracking sealant over everything, get a TVR bodyshop to do it for you. Much neater as they have a lot of practise.

Thanks... I feel really confident now
You may prove to be right but if the worse happens I'll ask someone else to do it again. In fact, the only reason I'm doing it is to avoid paying someone to do a poor job (I can do that myself! ) I'm no mechanic but I can do things that require attention to detail...
