Sorry to post this here, as it seems quite a trifling question, but what the hell....

Since I cleaned the Griff last week, the LEDS around the ventilation controls come on with the ignition even if my lights aren't on. I could have sworn that before the cleaning they didn't. Could I have knocked a switch that has done this, or were they always on before and I just didn't notice it?

Great to see some fellow Griffs at VW today! Think mine was the filthiest by far! Do I win an award?

I had a slight shock the other week when the red LED started coming on up the M6 past Birmingham (it's always nice to get Birmingham behind you!)

Took me a few more miles to realise it was actually sunlight giving the effect and no real panic.

I think my LEDs all come on and stay on - I seem to recall them all being on earlier today anyway!

BTW, I reckon the amount of dirt on my Griff today could give you a run for your money... I was even persuaded to stop off at a jet wash on the way home to blast off the worst of the road grime. Feel very virtuous now.

I think that the dashboard illumination switch brings on the LED's, however the two LED's that give me the most problems are the red LED's, one next to the fan swivel this comes on and off mainly when the fans on but also when off, and the other LED is the Ice detector next to the R/H window switch this is permanently on Red.

The ice detector has probably gone open circuit. That would cause it to stay red irrespective of the temperature. The bible will tell you where it is and how to repair t.

This has caught me out a few times too. Another Griff butt-twitching moment not to be proud of...
