I''m having real problems getting my boot to close. It usually takes me about 5 or 6 pushes to get the catch to hold. I''ve tried being soft and gentle and also the hard push approach but I still can''t seem to tell which works better. Is there anything I can do to make the catch more responsive? Is this a common problem? I''m getting really fed up standing there pushing away at the boot of my car in garage forecourts.......it looks so stupid!

There is a flap of carpet/boot lining material which sometimes gets lifted up around the boot catch on my Chimaera. This can cause the catch to not engage. Easy to fix, so its worth checking.

I've had this one as well, the adjustment is very fine and would certainly try lowering the boot lid part of the catch a little, if it's set to tight then the boot seal is compressed too much as you shut it and makes it very difficult to catch. After adjustment the lid on my car shuts easily and silently,if you lower the catch too much the lip gap gets wide and you get exhaust fumes on anything you put in the boot.

Thanks all. It doesn't sound as common a problem as I thought so I guess one of your solutions should be the fix.
