Well, Ithought it was too good to last. After fixing the overheating and having two weeks trouble free motoring, something was bound to go wrong Driving to work this morining the ignition light came on and the ammeter reads just under 12v. This does not improve when I rev the engine. Checked the fan belt, no problems, it sounds like the alternator to me but I was wondering if there''s a fuse or relay that may have popped. Any ideas most welcome......

It sounds like your altenator has died of death, too much heat can kill them

Yup your right, I changed it last night, the patient is now doing fine. BTW, I cheched the idle mixture screw whilst I was messing about, it was set at 3 turns out, so I set it at 1.5 as per the bible, BIG difference on idle and much smoother on small throtle openings, it it now much easier to drive in heavy traffic.
