I'm trying to get hold of a pair of 'smoked' rear lights for my Griff, if any lucky so and so has them on their car, could they do me a favour, and tell me what the part No on the lense is, it would help me in my quest for what appears to be the holy grail

Yes, you are searching for the holy grail ... You have probably realised that they are standard Vauxhall Cavalier. Two versions were made - I had to replace both of mine with the newer ones (orange indicators) when one was broken by a supermarket trolley. The garage couldn't source any others.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on !

Try one of the boy-racer mags, Maxpower or Fast car. I am sure I spotted the lexus style rear clusters for the cavalier. They were advertised as Vectra but you could see from the picture they were definitely cavalier. If they have lexus style they're bound to have smoked lights.

Smoked lights were from a Cavalier SRi / GSi... best bet might be a scrapyard...

They are £203 per pair though!

What is the british Vauxhall Cavalier is everywhere else in the world the Opel Vectra.
If not, please correct me, I think I am right but not very into Opels.

It's not British. Vauxhall are part of General Motors. Opel is the European name for Vauxhall style GM cars. I believe the Indian name for Vauxhall is "Pile of American tat only suitable for taxi drivers and sales reps".
