GRIFF +SNOW = BROWN PANTS!
Discussion
As my girlfirend managed to park my Subaru in the boot of another car yesterday, and not fancying a bout of frost bite riding the Aprillia, I decided (very sensibly I thought) to drive to work in the Griff.
Having lookedout the window at 3.00pm to see that Pinner would now be hosting the next winter olympics I decided to abandon ship.
Two hours and one mile later, having opposite locked myself to Stanmore, aged 20 years and spoilt the magnolia leather, I decided to return back to the office. I am now bored out of my brain, looking forward to a nice comfy nights sleep on my desk.
I presume all Gritter lorry drivers must have been called up to the Gulf, because I haven't seen one lorry all afternoon/evening, certainly makes you proud to be British.
The only time I have every been more worried driving a car was about three years ago when my last Griff was due a service in January, and the only place I could get it booked in was Brundle TVR near Kings Lyn, I left Stevenage at 5.00am for what should have been a 2 hour tops journey, it had tipped it down with snow across East Anglia, and none of the minor roads were gritted. I arrived at 1.00pm. It certainly focuses the mind (and tightens the buttocks) driving when the roads are totally sheet ice, and either side of the road are nice deep cold fenland waterways!
anybody else venture out today?

griff2be have you just bought the plate? if so could you perhaps mail me offline as to what you paid for it (if you don't mind) I have just advertised my car for sale (good timming!) and am thinking of splitting the plate from the car.

Out & about yesterday in East Anglia , what a shambles!
Griting lorries rescuing other gritters, fwd boxes slithering ALL over the place ,drivers eyes wide open , transfixed in paralised fear at 5 mph!!!!!!
Me , I left the Griff in the garage & took the Overfinch,( sounds just like a Griff ) started a few avalanches in Halesworth adding to the chaos. Any small incline ( not that there`s that many in this part of the world) was enough to gridlock the entire area, not helped by a tree surgeons wheel coming adrift from the trailer along side the gas instalation road works who`d previously broken the water mains causing more mayhem, laying a sheet of ice next to the abandoned Mini........what a farce !!!!!!
Out again later with a camera.

Yep - I had a rough time last night getting out of the business park where I work to the M4. This is the time of year when you don't want buckets of torque at tickover.
I bet the Tamoras/Tuscans would be a lot better off as the torque band is much steeper on those.
Train for me today - not that I'm a wuss you understand but having a few after work
DT

I get brown pants just staring in awe at the sheer stupidity of people driving in the snow/ice. Some silly old moo this morning in a 4 ton bloody Landcruiser using the wonderful logic that in order to get grip one should rev harder! She was almost sideways into oncoming traffic as i drove past
I swear I wasn`t haloo, halis.......doh, seeing things, cos I saw ANOTHER one this morning > !!!Stuck in the snow going nowhere, I had to go off road to pass him. Mind you it was in wilds of Suffolk & it was only 2 wheel drive.I offered help but was told he`d radio`d in & another 2 wheeler was on it`s way ( or was it ) to rescue him.
Also saw a bobby on his bike chasing a speeding hare .
