Went down to Brighton today to catch the speed trials. TVR''s were represented in the forms of one 350i, an original Tuscan (350 bhp), race Tuscan (5.7 Chevvy Lump), and a twin Turbo Griff 500 who very kindly let me have a look under the bonnet. Turbo''s were fitted in my home town of North Walsham (Norfolk) by Courtneys. This Griff with 1 bar pressure is producing 468bhp and 450 lb ft torque. The drive train has remained the same apart from straight cut top gear and a brass clutch which in his words has 2 positions - in or out ! I''d been curious due to the additional venting in the bonnet and had wandered over to ask why it was there. As we all know the Griff can run hot but this was OTT for that. The main additional vent was there to try and cool down the alternator as the engine chews them up. His first run was 11. something with a terminal speed of 130 I think and the second one which I actually saw was not as good, poor start. What I found most amazing was that all this engine work had gone on and there were no mod''s to the dampers, brakes or anything ! He may of been less than forthcoming but I didn''t get that impression. Nice guy and thanks for letting me poke my nose around your car. Cheers Mark

More power??? Was that really necessary? Can you have too much of a good thing?

Strange, The first thing my brother said when he looked under the bonnet of my Griff 500 was "that exhaust system is just perfect to fit twin turbos"! I might consider it, as there is no way he could duplicate that one under the crowded bonnet of a Dax Rush V8....is there? TVR_nut

Apparently Courtenay do not do Tiv stuff anymore
(strictly Vauxhall following change of ownership)

Something else to consider, they had the Griff for over a year and it cost in the region of 20K!!!!

Did get nearly 600bhp on the dyno though.

But still 20K there are better ways surely.

600 bhp !!! christ on a bike.....I personally feel the drive train is already maxed out on a Griff 500, I wouldn't like to be around when it goes pop at these power levels

omigod! this is worse than hennesy motorsports 800hp viper! how about a supercharger AND turbo - its been done. the skyline stock system might fit well, but where would the intercooler go without ruining the lines. might suit the Cerb more.
