Noticed this morning that once the fans came on they stuck on for the remainder of the journey. Kept the temperature at around 70 in traffic but left the car f-f-f-freezing.

This has happened in the past and then I suspected a dodgy otter switch, but I am now starting to think that the fan relay may not always be releasing.

Any other possibilities? Model is 1999, split fuses (25A) for each fan. If it is a relay are these parts easily sourced?

WEll... you should have two relays one for each fan which means that both fans should have died which is unlikely so sounds like a duff otter switch not releasing.

Steve - not sure if I have 2 relays but will check. It certainly sounded as if both fans were on so if there are separate relays you're right in saying seems very unlikely both would fail to release.

I'll also stick a multimeter over the otter switch when it happens again and see if that is sticking.

I get my info from a pretty good source and the bible has two relays for the fans for the fuse/relay out that your car has...
