150 to 170mph, now I know all Griff 500 are not the same and I''ve been told p/s and air con slow them down but surely not by 20mph. Anybody been on a air field and had it recorded. Bog standard Griff that is.

a nutter of a mate of mine has had an indicated 160mph in his non pas non ac 500, and it was still pulling, personnally I find the lack of downforce at the rear at 140mph a mite disconcerting and back off.

I had an indicated 165 out of my 1994 500 and I don't mind telling you that I was sh*tting myself, it felt like i was on a bouncy castle, I'd have had more steering if I'd had a rudder instead of a steering wheel. I can't advise against this enough everyone.

I must be a big girls blouse because I've only done 150mph indicated. Funnily enough, it felt much more stable roof off than roof on at this speed. I put it down to the added drag reducing lift. Roof on, it felt decidedly unsafe, more like riding a bolting horse than driving a car. Has anyone experimented with spoilers? Although these would totally spoil the Griff's pure lines!

Seen 155 so far in my 94 500, seemed fine. Might be the 17 stone of downforce I provided though

175 in my Chim 500, 165 top down. They do get a bit light 120-150, but either they settle a bit after that, or the adrenalin kicks in enough to make it seem so. BTW the 175 was replicated with a passenger who didn't beleive it either. For those who haven't sampled the delights of seriously silly speeds in their Tivs, I should caution that getting to that speed is nothing in comparison to slowing down again. Make sure you are in the middle lane of a very empty motorway before you back off the loud pedal. PS If you are a lazy git like me, you might have discovered that at 130mph with the roof off the car will hoover itself! Edited by philshort on Thursday 6th September 11:23
