After fitting a new battery on my '92 Griff 4.3, I noticed a stray pipe dangling right at the back of the passenger footwell behind the battery enclosure, coming down from behind the central dash/bulkhead somewhere. It's a clear thin pipe with a few angle joints on it, and although it's not connected to anything, it certainly looks like it should be. It looks like a washer pipe of some kind, but my washers are working just fine.

Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks, Dean

Could it be a battery vent pipe? I've owned several cars which have such a pipe connected to battery to convey away any nasties emitted by the battery when it's charging.

Aha - that would make sense. I remember seeing a vent-like connection on the side of the battery.

Sorry I’m a bit late, just catching up.

I’m sure mine goes out through a hole in the inner wheel arch. I’ve seen it from the wheel side and I assumed this is what it was.

Cheers,

Simon.
