Not easily as about 6 different manufacturers have been used over the years and then there are about 6 different current ratings...

At least that has narrowed it down to about 36 possibilities. Virtually all interchangeble but go for the high current ones.

ok im losing it now!!
can a dodgey alternator affect the running of the car at all??ie the brain!
it just that the cars started to stall now and then, runs fine starts every time but at idle it hunts then dies.

HAve you cleaned the Stepper motor as this is first port of call with hunting/bad idle etc.
let me know if u dont know eher to look for it.
20 min job, Large adjustable an some white spirits (vodka in your case ) .
Surprising how cleaning this makes a difference.

no you'll be ok to disconnect the battery, the ECU will relearn all the parameters within a few miles (you wont notice any difference)
