The First thing i would advise is to buy Steve Heaths 'The TVR Griffith and Chimaera'.
This has got a huge bit on buying a griffith, you may have the one for the 'S' series so you know what kind of Info is given.

Also do a search in this Forum as this has been asked a few times and take notes of all the info have put about what to look for as this will give you idea of what to look for.

As for PAS i think all 4.0/4.3ltr didn't have it and 500's it was optional but i think most have it.

specs a personal preference, you have experienced TVR build, but...
check the bible, and look for what you want!
no point in spending extra on an up-rated track car...if you ain't gonna track it!
guide in "CLASSIC CAR" was good this month...loads of info.

watch out for:-
electrics
water damage
tappy engine (noises generally)
front wishbones (peeling powder coat / Rust!)
chassis (above now starting on early cars)
good tyres (can be expensive)
delaminating windscreens (milky white)
FULL TVR/SPECIALIST S/History

front respray is only £500-00... use for bargaining.
panels aint cheap! so no crazing.
get borg warner gearbox (reverse below 6th).
GET 500!

low mileage can be a problem...sat in the garage for YEARS!!
3-4Kpa is normal mileage on a griff

DRIVE SEVERAL!
YOU WILL PROBABLY LOVE THE FIRST ONE YOU DRIVE...THERE MAY BE BETTER ROUND THE CORNER.

as a note, I searched nationally for a blue 500 with pre serp engine and borg warner gearbox. full leather, PAS and A/C. after six months i found one at the right price 30 miles away!!! all a matter of timing!

good luck
have fun looking

i got my griff this summer and agree that you should drive a few before buying. i had a few small teething troubles initially but since then car has been great. i would recommend anyone to buy one.
