I have just about calmed down now and I feel the need to do a bit of spleen venting, so I apologise in advance if this gets anyone's goat.

Lovely day yesterday so gave the Griff a good cleaning in and out, new polish job etc. etc. in advance of the Dorset run out to Studland today.

Today dawns bright and sunny as well, life is good the New Year is starting well. As I live a fair way away from the meet and the roads have a good dusting of frost and ice ( you may now be well ahead in this story ) I leave home with a good 90 minutes for a 45 mile journey. Again the sunny is out the roof is now off and it's just fun, fun, fun but cautionary fun as I've seen the gritters out.

Then the God of Allthings Buggered Up deems it time to visit upon me vegenance for have I just past Westover Sportscars ( must pop in and see if they have a T350C in) when the world suddenly starts going round and then backwards.

Feeling now somewhat like a James Bond martini I get out to see that the Griff has neatly parked itself backwards up a small grass verge. Luckily no other cars were coming the other way as I had crossed onto the other side of the road but at least I was facing the right way. Unfortunately I could not get off the verge as it had grounded itself and was only moved by a kindly passing Policeman with tow rope.

Luck was apparently smiling on me, no apparent damage to the bodywork and the underside apart from looking like a lawnmower grassbox also appeared unscathed. However and there is always one of them in these stories I turned the key the engine started, ran for a couple of minutes (whilst I was thanking aforementioned Plod) then it died and refused to start again.

Vent over and hope this finds you all having an enjoyable and incident free new year.

Crikey mate - would love to have seen that one caught on video camera! Doesn't sound like anything major should have gone wrong with the car though does it? Were you "making progress"?

Thanks for that Guillotine will have a look see in the morning, hopefully it's something nice and simple like that and no PC I wasn't 'making progress', barely over 25 having just manoeuvred through a flooded area in the village, but now in hindsight it probably would've looked good on camera, especially my eyes going the size of dinner plates !!!!

Theres two safety devices that can operate the inertia switch(fuel cut off) as said in passsenger footwell, and the actual roll over valve which is located next to the filler pipe to the petrol tank inside the boot.
Which i am not sure weather when upright/horizontal again rights itself or might need re-setting.

Thanks for all the comments so far. There is no primmer buzz prior to starting, will now wait and see outcome from Westover's investigation.

It will almost certainly be the fuel cut-off. There is a largish, round, black rubber/plastic push-button behind the glovebox. It can be a bugger to find if you don't know where it is.

The electrical connectors might have been knocked off the fuel pump during your 'off roading'. Its next to the chassis rail, by hte near side rear wheel (i.e. a bit exposed & vulnerable).

If the connectors were off I doubt the car would have started at all, I would suggest that the fuel line itself may be damaged, e.g. crushed somewhere.
