I'm planning to clean-out the Griff's head-light pods. The "bible", and other references, speak of the light unit being covered with a rubber boot. Well after I removed the wing panel, I found that mine has none, and I suspect that is the way much of the crap is getting in. I 'phoned my local TVR dealer, and they say there is no rubber boot. Who is right? Presumably, the head-light is a standard used on other cars, so I should be able to get the rubber boot that fits other makes? I don't want to take the pods out until I can be sure that I can make them a bit more proof against dirt getting in!

Assuming you mean the dipped rather than main beam - then there was no boot on mine (4.0) - and no crap either - the wing panel was well sealed.

Thanks, All.

Yes I do mean dipped beam. The wing panel on mine was also well sealed, but I reckon mud etc. would still be able to splash up behind it from the engine, road etc. Not a problem for the TVR owners who don't take their cars out in the rain, but I take the car out every chance I get.

I already printed the helpful advice from the Bristol web-site, all ready to go!

The boot refers to the rubber cover that goes over the bulb unit although things have changed many many times. The headlamp unit is pretty well sealed. The pod may not be but excatly how stuff gets in there is a bit of a mystery.
