Windscreen seals

The rubber seals round the windscreen have become detached in the top two corners of the windscreen. The main dealer from whom I got my Griff has offered to fix them back for nothing but said that "they all do that" and so I have a feeling they won't spend long trying to get these to stay in place permanently.

Does anyone know of an adhesive/mastic that permanently stops the corners of these seals coming loose?

I have read about someone whose windscreen seal started to lift at high speed driving down a French autoroute. They apparently stopped at a service station and stuck the seal back with "super-glue"...and carried on with no further problems

I would have thought a bit of black silicone sealant would be better. The excess sealant can be neatly wiped off and once cured it has incredible adhesion, ultimately probably a more reliable solution than "super-glue". Also, if you need to get the windscreen out sometime in the future, you may not want the seal "super-glued" in place?

Hi Steve,
Recently had a similar problem, I used Sika-Flex sticks like ST to a blanket, available at Part-co it's not cheap @ £7 tube but it's good stuff. It's also good for sealing leaks! Available in Clear, Black and *Grey (* I think). If you use the black get some of them disposable gloves, unless you don't mind doing Al Jolson hand waves all over Christmas.

Thanks for the help. Seems like black Sika-Flex is the stuff to try.

I'll put some gloves on if I remember but my hands have been black on and off for the past 5 years as for that time I have had an MG V8 to tinker with. The Griff is a bit of a change as it is too complex for me to mess with!

Well I went in search of way to buy Sikaflex on the web, and I found that there are many different types of Sikaflex.
For example Sikaflex®-292 and Sikaflex®-852 FR, not to mention Sikaflex®-296
More likely are Sikaflex®-221, Sikaflex®-227 or Sikaflex®-252 (See here
Any idea what number Sikaflex you got from part-co?

I've found that Merlin Autosport sell Sikaflex®-221 for £13.95, which seems a tad pricey...

Tracked down a Partco near me & got some Sikaflex 221. It was £12 though, so perhaps they have regional prices
