Pre-cats removed..................................
Discussion
Well removed the pre-cats, and what a difference...Sounds more throaty and feels a lot less restricted, breathing easier...And coupled with the large cone filter, i fitted...It was a laborious chore but worth the end results....
Have the scars healed yet ?? makes you feel good when you set more car alarms off doesn't it

Not strictly the same topic, but...
I had the manifold gaskets replaced on my 4.3 Griff in the summer - whilst the exhaust was off the garage found a bunch of steel wool about a foot long in the exhaust just after the downpipe - they binned it for me and (not surprisingly) the car was suddenly noticeably quicker and a lot louder, I also gained the pops bangs and flames I'd been desparate for - excellent.
I'm guessing it was put in after the car was bought - makes you wonder who'd buy a TVR and then have the exhaust noise reduced?

People who want to enjoy their cars on a track and can't meet the noise limit....
oh no, my car's been on a track...
(mind you, I think the Nurburgring sticker I stuck on the back is more of a giveaway!)
Good point, by the way, Steve - it had crossed my mind as well,
An alternative solution is to buy some Merlin Mufflers for about £60 and simply bolt them on...

At £120 a pair (one for each tail pipe) they are considerbaly more expensive than a bit or wire wool and a coke can stuffed up the pipes. They do work however and have less chance of screwing up the engine.... but there are a lot of cheapskates or deperate owners who simply don't believe that the sports exhaust car is that loud who get driven to desperate measures.

Oh, that's made me feel much better...
I could have understood if the wire wool on mine had just been shoved up the tail pipes, but it was right down the front next to the engine so seemed a bit more involved than a quick track fix. Funny the things people do...
