Damage Assessment - Water Pump Failure

Driving along motorway when the temperature began to increase, I slowed down and watched the temp guage closely suspecting that the fans had stopped. I stopped when the guage moved moved into the red but found that the pulley that drives the water pump had sheared off.
Likely assessments of damage please and has this happened to anyone else.

I think you might have caught it in time, as long as you didn't get to the steam billowing up over the bonnet stage. :fingerscrossed:

Should be OK as you stopped as soon as it went into the red.

Things do fail but you did the right thing. New pump and everything should be right as rain.
