I don't want to teach you guys to suck eggs but having read the posts regarding maintaining the chassis of the TVR I thought this might be of interest to you. A company called KLEENtect does a PTFE coating for the land rover chassis that they guarantee for 10 years against corrosion even in extreme off road use. It should therefore stand up pretty well for road use. It is expensive though! Their web site is;

Interesting. Problem is that you would need to take the body off the chassis of any TVR since Griffith, to be able to do a proper job.
Wouldn't mind getting wishbones done though....

I made the decision last summer that mine needed doing as it was obvious that no matter what i did to try and protect the areas of the chassis that were acessable the rest remained in the dark slowly rusting away

Bradleys in Ipswich re-powdercoated my chassis and wishbones and all brackets for £550 with an option of 200 colours.It gets cleaned to a Sa 2 standard, primed and coated with a realy thick glossy top layer.

They also do iron sulphate cleaning,hot zink or aluminium spraying, nylon coating and you get the choice of primer and powdercoat in polyester,epoxy or epoxy & polyester.

You have to be careful with these chassis as the tubular is around 1.6mm wall so abrasive cleaning to remove the original powdercoat isn't recomended. the best method is to chemically remove the original powder coat and then clean by grit blasting with very fine grit, doing it this way ensures minimum metal removal.

..secondly other coating processes like Nylon, Zinc etc use a much higher heat range for the products to do their thing and as a result will or have a high risk of warping/distorting the chassis, so get ruled out unfortunately.

The chassis looks fab after its been chemically cleaned as you get to see all the blueing around the welds which happend to look the same colour as my cars paintwork..so I asked Bradleys if the powdercoat could be clear so as all the welds were visible but unfortunately the primer didn't come in clear form so stuck with the original silver.(early cars)

Bradleys pick up and deliver free too,and the chassis etc arrived from them wrapped in layers of protective bubble wrap and felt like a great big prezzie which took hours opening, great fun.they can be contacted on 01473 461400 if you need advice, very TVR friendly but you get fined by them if you swear..no shit
