Griffers - brace yourself, then go to www.tvrbooks.co.uk and tell me what you see...

Is this a nightmare or wot? Can we campaign for parity if not exclusivity?

I sold mine to the guy who bought my old Griff. Wish I'd kept it now - at least it had a picture of the damn thing on the front!

If the new guide has a wiro-binding like the first one, it would be very easy to make two covers - one for people who bought the right car and one for those that didn't. Or a reverisble one? I mean, even SH himself is a Griff man. One of each perhaps?

Give the man a break! If I recall correctly, the last book was called 'Griffith and Chimaer' but had two Griffs on the front...

Just had a look, four Griff's and two Chimaeras on the front and one Griff on the back, so can't complain really.

Simpo, let me know when when you buy a new copy and I'll photocopy the cover of the old one and send it to you so you can spray mount it on the front.

Can. Am. Have. Nyaaah! Whose side are you on anyway?

Interesting - I could put one of the EVO pics on the front... it would even be my old motor then too!

Look. The griff on the back is a full car shot. The Chimaera on the front is a very small partial shot showing what is probably the best bit - the griff inspired headlight. So on the cover, you see more of the Grifff and more of the Chimp is hidden.

We should all be preaching harmony between the different types of TVR, its not the fault of Mr Heath if he has the good sense to put on the front cover a quality TVR..
Its better than the pumped up MX-5 on the back cover.

'The griff on the back is a full car shot.'

With deepest respect, that's not important. The front pic is very good and more striking than a 'full car shot', even if it is a Chimaera. And what's more important, the front or the back? Exactly.

Can't understand the logic, that's all, unless it just happened to be the only shot suitable for a front cover, which is hard to beleive.

Apologies for the rumpus, but one pic of each - equal weighting - is the obvious choice for a book that features both!

Any more of this and I'll put a Wedge on the front so that way I can upset both the medallion men and the golfers....

Simpo, old bean.

I thought your tongue in cheek Griff v Chimaera stuff was pretty amusing. But I would just say that after numerous Griff v Chim posts some people may not realise it is tongue in cheek and some of the humour may be lost...

BTW - how did the phrase 'tongue in cheek' come about?! Whose tongue? And which cheek?!

not only this issue .. but the sample chapter is wrong also I think the 4.x car engine bay has the alternator moved but the other pump is the air con compressor not the pas pump, and the other pic isn't a chimaera 5.0 cos that bonnet hinges at the front and the bonnet stay is on the driver side, whereas the pic is surely a griff with it's rear hinge bonnet and bonnet stay on the passenger side?? or have i missed something?

Well just to put the matter right, of all the cars in the world I'm happy to agree that the Chim(p) is in the top two! Which is pretty good really... besides, people with no SOH should be reading 'Local Government Worker' or 'Environmental Campaigner Weekly'.

'BTW - how did the phrase 'tongue in cheek' come about?!'

Dunno, but it sure stops you talking!

Look like the shit is hitting the fan! (At least it would if they hadn't moved the fan to the other side ) But seriously folks, I got confused recently looking at a pic of an engine bay until I checked the owner's profile and saw it was an LHD car...doh! Would that explain the misplaced parts?

May all TVR owners live long and prosper.

Well the Chimaera is better looking than the Griff so it is only fair that the giff got shoved to the back, and to the back page the book where they belong...

There are also a few grammatical errors in the sample chapter. I've noticed two on page 98.

The first section on the page "Direct to battery" has an incomplete ending to para 1. "It is something that I would recommend because it does provide".

and in the final para on the page (under "Via special connector") "It cost almost as much in parts as the commercial one make"

Also, all of the footers say "Available in May 1998". They also have an old web address not the tvrbooks one.

Oh well. I am still waiting to see if Santa brings me a copy - although I really expect to have to buy one myself in the new year.

Steve, I hope these problems were sorted out before final press but even if not I applaud you for creating this magnificent book and I will be ordering one anyway so don't worry.
