My 96 500 has started to leak from its diff area. I haven't been under it yet is there any common faults I should look for?
I've heard a breather hose can eject fluid after a good thrash and as thats the only way it gets driven I hope its as simple as that.

My 96 500 doesn't leak from the diff, but I do get a horrible booming/growling noise under hard acceleration from about 50 mph upwards, local TVR dealer looked at it and said play was excessive and it will ultimately need changing but could possibly go for a few thousand miles before anything nasty happens, difficult to be exact. Replacement diff (GKN type) and labour about a grand plus VAT, they reckon.

Considering the power that goes through the dammed things it's not surprising they leak or make noises, I suppose. Maybe a truck diff might be better?
