Glovebox - The Final Solution
Discussion
For those of you interested here is my industrial strength solution.
Materials (all from B&Q)- automatic loft catch, 3mmx16mm nuts, bolts and washers,
2inch corner bracket.
Method. 1)Bin the original catch. 2)Cut the corner bracket to fit diagonally across the right-hand inner side of the glovebox. Drill and secure with bolts. 3)Secure loft catch (the part that normally fits to the loft trap door)to the bracket. 4)Position the spring loaded loft catch under the dash such that it aligns roughly with the door catch. Mark position, drill and secure with bolts. It pays to elongate the holes to allow some adjustment. 5)Bend the catch on the glovebox such that it mates exactly with the main catch.6)Make any final adjustments before tightening all bolts.
Hey presto - a glove box that actually works! A solid solution that will not jump open. Robust enough to allow opening by pushing at any point along the glovebox.
May all your glovebox openings be frustration free.
