Been saving up for ages, now got enough to get a Griff, sat in Griffs while other people drove them, finally got to test drive one on Saturday and what did I find - I can't reach the clutch pedal!!

How tall are you? I'm 5'3" and I have to admit it's a bit of a struggle to reach the clutch in my car. But you can adjust the pedal box in the Griffs - so don't be put off! If a Griff is what you want, go for it!

Good luck, let us know how you get on!

Our Griff was owned by a Chinese chap before us and he must have been a bit short as our pedals have been extended. Mr Big is about 5'8" and manages ok. I am 5'3" and can reach the pedals fine but have a damaged left knee and cannot manage the heavy clutch.

I had the seat as far forward as it would go, seat back was upright and I had a jacket behind me - changing gear was a combination of pulling myself forward on the steering wheel while dislocating my shoulder to get to the gear stick!
I'm 5 2" has anyone out there of a similar height tried pedal extenders - are they any good??
- To complicate matters Mr. Sezdee is 6 ft so it has to work for both of us!

I've fitted the extended Leven pedals to mine and they work fine - I'm 6'1" my wife is 5'3".

That sounds good!! Do you have to adjust the pedels when you switch drivers or does the seat move back/ forwards enough?
- How hard were they to fit?

'But you can adjust the pedal box in the Griffs'

What pedal box?! But you can get your head under the dash, loosen the locknut behind the clutch and brake pedal, unscrew them to the desired position - taking care to keep the TVR logo the right way up - then re-tighten the locknut. Even I can do it!

Easy to fit. Brake and clutch pedals took a couple of minutes. Accelerator took about 40 minutes - not difficult, just fiddly - you need to get yourself upsdie down in the footwell.

I messed around with the setting for a while and we can both drive the car - me with the seat fully back and my wife with it nearly all the way forward - don't need to adjust the pedals.
Cheers

Thanks for all your help - was worried we were going to finally get a TVR and find out only one of us (not me!!) would be able to drive it!!
I'm now much happier than I was this morning!!

- one more question - did you ask the garages/ owners of the cars to move the pedals so you could test drive them???

My wife runs a Chimaera 500 (OK, I drive it most of the time) and she is a tad under 5 feet tall.
The pedals are on their limit for adjustment which I can just about cope with at 5' 10". But she also uses a seat bolster provided by the factory. This is in the same leather as the seat, allows her to sit a little closer to the steering wheel and slips off to be used on the passenger seat as and when. I guess this would fit the Griff seats too.
Works fine & looks OK. We explored the idea of pedal extentions but were informed they they may put undue strain on the components.

I was a bit selfish here. It was only me that had the test drive so there wasn't a problem. I bought the new pedals after I'd bought the car and discovered that my vertically challenged beloved was struggling to reach. If you're anywhere near Hertfordshire you're welcome to check mine out. Contact me via email on my profile if that's a help.

Sorry I'm a bit late on this one. Haven't switched the PC on in a couple of days.

I got my other half insured on my Griff last year. She's 5'2", I'm 6' tall. To make the car fit both of us I fitted the standard Leven Tech 3 peddle set with a new throttle arm. We had to adjust the peddles between drivers and she was still reaching for the clutch, but it made driving possible for her.

Leven also do an extended set of peddles on 150mm studs. I've recently bought her a set to increase the reach (so we've now got his and hers peddles) plus 6 extra nuts. I intend to preset the correct length on each stud by locking 2 nuts together. That way we should be able to swap hers and mine over without faffing about with adjustments. Haven't tried it yet 'cos the better half has just recovered from breaking her leg. I'll let you know if it works!

I haven't had a good look at the Leven Pedals, how long do you think it will take to swap them round?

Could you do it Tesco's car park, or pub car park after you won the argument ??

Clutch & brake - 5 mins with a big spanner...

New throttle arm - 2 hours, sore fingers, bruises on your ribs....and a head rush from being upside down in the footwell most of the time.

They're really cool when they're fitted though....Go on....you know you want to.......

Once you've fitted the new arm though, all three peddles can be swapped in about 5 mins.
