Hi im after a little help please water leak caused damage to my 1992 4 ltr griffith ecu so got an exact replacement so should fit and start so I have been told. So the new one starts the car however the immobiliser then kicks in stopping the engine. Is there anything I should know or am i missing something simple before removing the alarm/immobiliser. Any suggestions welcome... im not sure if the griffith comes with factory fitted immobiliser or added later. Thanks Andy

Really sorry for late reply it looks like solder has been used to link up part of the ecu on the old one but it hasn't on the new one so as soon as you start the car the immobiliser kicks in my head is now battered.

You could try Jody at Python Racing.

Where are you in the UK?

If anywhere near Northumberland I have a spare ECU you could try, its for a 500 and will not match your 400 as it is but would prove that your current ECU is the problem. Actually by swapping the 400 ROM from your ECU I believe it should be spot on.

Thanks I live burnopfield ne16 however I have an other ecu but the water damaged one has the soldered bit in the photo and the other ecu starts the car but it would appear the immobiliser kicks in not sure if the soldered bit has anything to do with that or not, I bet it's the last thing I find 😭 missed all year driving because of this issue...

The soldered bit looks as though there was a dry joint or similar and someone has just made it good.
The immobiliser fault could be something completely unrelated to the ECU I would bypass the immobiliser to rule that out as a start. If you have had water ingress into the passenger well there is a lot of stuff there that could be affected including the ECU connecter as Belle mentioned.
I live in Slaggyford near Alston so not too far away.

Maybe worth trying to run Rovergauge on it. This wouldn't get round an immobiliser issue, but at least you'll know if the ECU is connecting ok, and seeing its main sensor inputs correctly.
