Bonnet release cable...
Discussion
Today I took my Griffith out and went to Oh so Retro car show.
Nice day and 3 other TVR'S there.
One, a nice cerbera, one a chimeara 500 turbo and a 350i.
Anyway, got home and thought just check the fluids etc.
Pulled the bonnet release handle, bonnet popped up (very luckily) and snap, cable broke.
At least I won't have a war to get the bonnet up.
Withdrew the cable from inside and front the catch end.
Weird as the steel cable itself looks burnt.
Where the hell do I get a new cable as the interior handle is moulded to the cable.
When (from where?) I get a new one I'll clean out the sheath and lube it like mad before fitting the new one.

I've fitted a spare bonnet release cable (actually a TR6 part) with the handle on the passenger side inboard under the dash.
I had a TR6 years ago & if the cable went on that it was a nightmare to get the bonnet open. I haven't had any problem in this regard with my Griffith but just did it as a precaution.

Buy the Motaclan one ...TVR U0422, firstly it comes with the ferrule and adjuster and there is a good chance it is still original stock... TR6/MG aftermarket I have bought when needing longer versions for my M series are rubbish (the outer has collapsed into the handle part or the cables have simply pulled out the handle). A@

A few years ago I was reading a thread about what a nightmare it was if it snapped without the bonnet popping up so I fitted an emergency one just in case.
I like that clever bit of thinking. Where does the emergency cable end up.
My cable is a bit like yours here, you can see it’s failing at the end of the shroud which I just taped up to stop water travelling down it but it’s messy and this thread is prompting me to buy a new one as a broken one would be a nightmare to sort.
